SFN report: Internet to make up 19 percent ad share in 2012

According to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Wilkofsky Gruen Associates, Internet advertising, including wired and mobile, accounted for $12.6 billion in 2003, only about one-tenth of newspaper ad spending that year, which totalled $105.8 billion, SFN's World Digital Media Trends 2009 reported.
PricewaterhouseCoopers predicts that in 2012, Internet advertising spending will reach $120.4 billion. Although it is still less than newspaper advertising, which is expected to be $136.8 billion, it accounts for 19 percent, only about two percent away from newspapers' share, which is at 21.6 percent, according to the report, World Digital Media Trends 2009, released by SFN and the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.
