Beijing paper the Global Times will launch an English edition and Web site this week ChinaView.cn reported. The English-language edition plans to "cover the world from a Chinese perspective" by presenting the Chinese peoples' point of view on significant world issues.

Editor-in-Chief of the Global Times, Hu Xijn, said he hoped the new English edition would allow the Global Times "to make friends with foreigners and to facilitate communication between China and the world."

The new edition will not be translated from the original publication, but made up of content generated from a separate team of journalists and editors, ChinaView.cn reported.

Printings are scheduled from Monday through Friday, and circulation will be nationwide.
