In a conjunction with the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, a free online newspaper titled the Union Post launched its first pilot issue, The Sunday Business Post of Ireland reported. Joe Mitchell, joint editor of the online publication wants the
newspaper to act as an information service for other trade unionists.
Mitchell described the paper's initial format as A4 PDF, which he and co-editor Bob Millar, both trade unionists, said "allows a certain amount of flexibility." They plan to also launch an online site for the paper.

''Our focus is to distill (information) and place it on a platform that can be sent to union members. We describe ourselves as 'news you can use'. We see ourselves as a service provider to the trade union movement," Mitchell said, according to the Sunday Business Post.
The newspaper hopes to source revenue by offering an advertising opportunity for businesses hoping to reach trade unionists with their service and products.
