Brothers Gary and Mark Stern have set out to fill the gap left by declining newspaper circulation in the northern U.S. state of Michigan, The Lansing State Journal today reported. To do so, they will launch a print daily to be sold from street corners and sell ads at a quarter of the rate of competitors, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
The Sterns' journalism experience comes from strikebusting across the United States during several decades, Editor & Publisher yesterday reported. The Detroit Daily Press expects to follow its 50-cent per copy street sales with 150,000 at-home subscriptions, The Detroit News today reported.
