Yahoo! and Facebook announced Wednesday they will expand their
partnership, to enable users to share activity and content with each
other more easily, Media
Post reported.
Through the Facebook Connect programme, members can log into other sites using their Facebook IDs. They can also share content, including photos or comments, with their Facebook friends.

On the other hand, Yahoo! allows users to see friends' Facebook
activities in the tab "Yahoo Updates," according to the Media Post
article.
According to the announcement, this enhanced integration will start sometime during the first half of 2010. It helps Yahoo's broader strategy to be "more open and customisable through alliances with other sites and developers."
"With this integration, we are opening the door for two of the Internet's largest online communities to make it easier for people to stay connected," Jim Stoneham, vice president of communities for Yahoo!, said in a statement. Facebook just announced late Tuesday that its users has reached 350 million globally, which makes the combined users of the two sites some 850 million.
However, according to Stoneham, beyond gaining reach and boosting engagement, it is still not clear how the companies will further benefit from this five-year deal. "There is lot of potential future integration work we can do. Whether the partnership opens up increased advertising opportunities is an especially intriguing question," he told The New York Times.
