Huffington Post acquires comedy news site 236.com
Huffington Post is buying comedy news site 236.com, part of a joint venture between Huffington Post and IAC created in Nov. 2007, paidContent reported.
This deal will integrate 236.com into Huffington Post as a vertical channel.
The move shows Huffington Post's intention to expand its offerings beyond straight commentary, according to paidContent. 236.com has approximately 2 million monthly unique users, while Huffington Post 16 million.
The deal came after IAC dissolved its programming group in December 2008 as part of its post-spinoff reorganisation. Staci D. Kramer now predicted that Huffington Post would wholly own 236.com, paidContent reported.
