Boone Newspapers buys Georgia paper

Boone Newspapers bought Georgia-based twice-weekly, The Post-Searchlight, from Sam and Mary Ann Griffin, Editor and Publisher reported.

The 101-year-old paid paper has a circulation of 22,000 on Wednesdays and 6,900 on Saturdays.


The financial terms of this deal were not revealed, E&P reported.

Prior to the sale, Alabama-based Boone newspapers principally owned by James B. “Jim” Boone, published 29 dailies and weeklies in Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan and Minnesota.

The Post-Searchlight is the chain’s 30th paper, and the first in Georgia.
