New Russian-language domain out in 2009

A new domain extension for the Russian Federation will emerge next year, Lenta.ru announced Thursday.
ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) said that the domain, which will be in Cyrillic letters, will be administered by the Coordination Centre for TLD RU.
According to the Centre, by summer 2009, a detailed procedure outlining the domain extension will be released. Meanwhile, ICANN predicted the extension will be launched in June next year, according to Lenta.ru.
