Internet is the most used medium among U.S. online users, TV second

The U.S. adult online population use the Internet more than TV and radio in a day, according to research firm eMarketer.

A U.S. adult online user spends 2.91 hours on average online, another 2.78 hours on TV and only 1.87 hours on radio.

Compared to older generations, Echo Boomers (aged 18 to 31), spend more time online – 3.28 on average per day, while GenX (aged 32 to 42) spend three hours, and Baby Boomers (aged 42 to 62) 2.69 hours.

TV is ranked as the second-most used medium – 2.78 hours spent per day on average. To break down by age groups, Baby Boomers watch TV more, with 2.83 hours spent on it, versus Echo Boomers’ 2.73 hours and GenX’ 2.63 hours, according to eMarketer.

Overall, radio occupied 1.87 hours of a U.S. adult online user per day, and is favoured by the older generation as well – Baby Boomers spent 1.93 hours per day on it, while GenX and Echo Boomers spent 1.86 and 1.79 hours, respectively.
